Menswear Standouts for Fall 2012

Thursday, October 11, 2012 — Gentlemen, get into these suits! I love menswear and all the layering possibilities and combos. I also love to see a great suit. As such, feast your eyes on the sharpest pinstripe suit you’ve ever seen. Dolce & Gabbana is giving us their all for fall 2012! The look is finished perfectly with a deep burgundy bow tie and dark shoes.

Another notable look this fall is the three-piece suit. Certainly Mad Men has something to do with this, but I digress. Whether you’re a baller on a budget (or not), the three-piece suit is a wonderful investment piece because of the versatility of the separates - vest, pant, and sleek jacket - which lends themselves to be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. The second photo is a look from the Ports 1961 menswear collection that showed in Milan.

Where to get the look: Bloomingdale’s, Top Man, Banana Republic/J. Crew, and Tommy Hilfiger.

Nolcha Fashion Week Menswear: Richard Smith Pret a Porter SS2013

Friday, October 12, 2012 — Classic, sleek, crisp, poise, prestige. Those are just a few of the words that came to mind when viewing the amazing collection from Richard Smith. Each suit that came down the walkway was more beautiful than the last. I would describe this collection as classic with a twist. The patterns and stripes were fresh and sharp. The opening look was a grey suit with red and white pinstripes. It was phenomenal. The pop of pink from the button down and the red tie took an ordinary suit and really accentuated the red and pink detail. Another favorite was the dark grey suit with green pinstripes. I love the pale green shade of the button down and tie. The color added the perfect touch to the outfit without being over the top.

What I truly love about this collection is that I can see any man wearing these looks. And that outlook is exactly what the designer was trying to accomplish. All of the models that walked in the show are not actually models. They are some of New York’s most successful business men. Richard Smith knew what he was doing when he created the Spring Summer 2013. Not only did he have an eye for colors and patterns, he knew exactly who he was designing for- business men of all types and ages.
